While most people were looking forward to the final four games last week, a lot of people here at Owen were very excited about the marketing madness that was held on last Thursday's kegs. With a one year hiatus last year, marketing madness was back on this year. And we had a good mix of companies participating.
For the uninitiated, let me explain what marketing madness is. Its an event where a bunch of companies participate and each team is assigned a company. That company then tells the team to promote specific product of the company or the company brand as a whole. And then it is up to the teams to come up with creative marketing display to incorporate the company's product and brand message.
This year we had

Heinz- Lea & Perrins worcestershire Sauce Mattel- Barbie Lip Smacker
Google WeTV- We Volunteer
Being part of the Heinz team, I can speak in more detail about what we did. One of the things Heinz is trying to do with Lee and Perrins brand is incorporate it in more and more recipes so that the home chefs can use it more often. Thus we had Onion dip, PB&J sandwich, Meatballs, Chex mix and Bloody Mary. Needless to say, everything had the L&P worcestershire sauce as its ingredient.We also had a Name our Bloody Mary contest.
The Microsoft team had the actual game set up for people to play. Barbie booth was decorated in pink. E.J. Gallo guys had a mini golf. Google had a scavenger hunt with cool freebies. And the WETV guys had a martini bar to entice women to come to their booth and register on WeVolunteer site
